KC Klein's Dark Future

Please Welcome Author KC Klein to the blog today!

I just want to say thanks, Carrie Ann Ryan, for allowing me to come on her blog and talk about my debut novel. The whole process of getting published has been such a dream come true, but my favorite part has been giving away books. So I’d like to give away an e-book to one special commenter. Leave a comment, and don’t forget your email address if you’d like to be entered for a chance to win. Thanks everyone and happy reading!

Tell me about Dark Future.

I couldn’t do this any better than the book blurb, so here it is:

Awakened in the middle of the night by a future version of herself, Kris Davenport is given a mission: go forward in time to save the world—and His life. Of course, her future self doesn't tell her who he is, just sends her into an abyss and straight into an alien invasion.
He turns out to be ConRad Smith, the callous, untrusting Commander of Earth’s army and the world’s last defense. There’s only one way to know for sure if this strange woman is an alien spy—slice her throat. Except, he didn’t anticipate the heat he would feel as he interrogates the hot-tempered, warm-blooded woman. For a man whose sole focus has been survival, she's more temptation than he can handle. But a world on the brink of destruction leaves no room for love…and time is running out.

What made you choose to write about time travel?

Really, the whole time-travel thing came about as a way to get a modern-day, slightly, pampered heroine into the cold, military world of DARK FUTURE. I thought nothing could be better than throwing two people together who have such totally different backgrounds. It was fun watching the sparks fly and then bringing Kris and ConRad together for the HEA.

Rate Dark Future in terms of steamyness. (Make up your own fun scale here! J)

This is a hard one. In my heart I would love to say that it is a sweet romance (I have a mother just like everyone else), but in reality nothing could be farther from the truth. DARK FUTURE is pretty sexy. So, despite my blush, I’ll have to rate DARK FUTURE steamy enough to be hot, but enough is left to the reader’s imagination not to be erotic.

Who is your favorite romance Author?

Ohhh, that’s a tough one. I love Elosia James, and Janet Evanovich, who technically isn’t a romance novelist. I also LOVE Karen Marie Moning.

What is your favorite romance series/book?

Again tough. I have read all of Janet Evanovich’s Plum series, but the winner would have to be Moning’s Dark Fever series.

Who is your favorite romance character? Why?

Hmmm, well, the one I’ve fantasied the most about would have to be Jamie Fraser from the Diana Gabladon’s Outlander series. I read about Jamie back in high school and immediately fell in love. It’s true, first crushes are the hardest to get over because he still does it for me. J

If you could take that person out for a date, what would you do? Details Please!

Well, first I would ask him what exactly do Scottish men wear underneath their kilts? And because I think I know the answer, the rest of the night might get me into trouble with my husband. LOL!

Kris – What was your first impression of ConRad?

Mean, ruthless, oh and very pushy. You would’ve thought he had a world to save by the way he ordered everyone around. Well, I guess he does, but still…

Kris – What is your favorite part about him?

At first it was his eyes, piercing blue and simply heart-stopping gorgeous, then, of course, it was his heart.

ConRad – What was your first impression of Kris?

Trouble. I knew right off my life would never be the same.

ConRad – What is your favorite part about her?

That my life has never been the same.

KC – What is next for you? Is Dark Future Part of a Series?

I would love to have DARK FUTURE be a part of a series. There are a few characters that weren’t completely settled in DARK FUTURE, and I’d like to give them a book of their own. DARK FUTURE was set up to have a sequel, but we’ll have to see how life plays out. As of right now, I am finishing up an anthology, sci-fi-bodice-ripper, (have you ever heard of such a thing?) with two other authors. J I’m really excited about it. The short story length is a break from what I usually write, and I am finding out that I have a knack for fun, short stories.

Thanks so much for letting me be here. It’s been great fun! I love to stay connected with readers so please follow me on twitter @kckleinbooks and on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/AuthorKCKlein. I try to keep my website updated so come and take a peek at kckleinbooks.com

  2. KC - I love this interview for several reason. First we have the same name only I spell mine Casea instead of KC.

Secondly, anyone who loves Jamie Frasier **sigh** is a friend of mine. Yep - you are right, my husband is glad he's fictional. Whew! Your story sounds great. Hope I win.
