Oh I love this series. It just keeps getting better and better. And all of you know how much I love Rebecca. If you haven't tried out this series yet, you're missing something!

Rex Kane has always known he was different than his brothers, down to the fact that when he shifts into his wolf form, his coat is completely black. Always in trouble, he is given one more chance by his brother Tristan, the Alpha of the Westervelt pack, to bring back to their island a witch who can stop some of the magical assault that has plagued their war-torn home. Rex knows he has one last chance to set things right. Everything depends on him and he cannot fail.

Elizabeth Willow has been cursed to look so repulsive no human eyes can bear to view her. Raised in a gentle coven of witches, she is ill prepared for the realities of the harsh world she now lives in. Raised to mistrust wolf-shifters as witch-killers, she cannot seem to help being drawn to Rex. Even if she doesn't believe she is his so-called mate. He can see her as she really is and is the first person to look her in the eyes in years. Although she is not naturally devious, she sees no choice but to use Rex to gain her own freedom and her families' safety.

Together, Rex and Elizabeth will see just how evil the people around them can be. If they can trust their hearts, perhaps they will survive another night. If not, both of their battles will never be won.

So I've been waiting for this book for so long. I'm not part of Warden's crew, but I'm darned close. This book was soooooo emotional, be sure to bring a box of tissues.
I REALLY REALLY want Quinn and Blay's book. Just saying.

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. The city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Now back in the Brotherhood - and unrecognisable as the vampire leader he once was - Tohrment is physically emaciated and heartbroken beyond despair. When he begins to see his beloved in his dreams - trapped in a cold, isolating netherworld - Tohr turns to a self-serving fallen angel in hopes of saving the one he has lost. When he's told he must learn to love another to free his former mate, Tohr knows they are all doomed . . .

Except then a female with a shadowed history begins to get through to him. Against the backdrop of the raging war with the lessers, and with a new clan of vampires vying for the Blind King's throne, Tohr struggles between the buried past, and a very hot, passion-filled future . . . but can his heart let go and set all of them free?

This is such a funny snarky series that I love reading it when I need to step away from the hard core sad novels LOL. I wasn't really waiting to read about this couple, but I'm still glad I did. Shelley did it again!

He's big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He's also about to get trapped by own his game. . .
Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that's turning Crush's lone-bear world upside down--and bringing his passion out of hibernation. . .
As a member of an elite feline protection unit, Marcella Malone has no problem body-dropping anyone who hunts her kind. But Crush is proving one major pain in her gorgeous tail. The only reason she's joined forces with him is to track down the wealthy human who's got her entire species in his ruthless sights. It sure isn't because Crush's stubborn and contrary attitude is rubbing Cella in all the right ways. . .

Dr. Phang is in the house!!! I'm sooo happy he ended up with Bryn and not that WOMAN with the tabasco. I loved Bryn and her brother so I'm glad that Phineas got a story of his own. So sexy, funny, smart, and awesome.

He's a vampire from the big city . . .

Phineas McKinney thought New York City was tough, until he was attacked by Malcontents—evil vampires who consider mortals to be snacks. Saved by the good vampires, Phin swore to devote his now undead life to stopping the Malcontents. He's got his job cut out for him when word comes that their enemy may be hiding in Wyoming. What does a city boy like him know about horses and campfires? Good thing he's got Brynley Jones with him . . . if only she didn't hate every vampire on earth.

She's a werewolf princess . . .

Bryn believes vampires are seductive and charming, and that makes them dangerous. So she's more than a little annoyed about teaming up with Phin, even if he is the only bloodsucker able to make her inner wolf purr. But as they hunt down the new leader of the Malcontents, danger threatens . . . and Phineas and Brynley discover a passion that will rock the foundation of their supernatural world.

An Interview with Liz Crowe

Hi! Thanks so much for coming today. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I own a craft microbrewery. I pay a bunch of guys to brew beer for me. I also handle everything marketing/sales/promotions related to the brewery and I blog as the A2 Beer Wench…with a following that is rabid at best.  I started writing fiction in earnest about 3 years ago with this very series, that started life as a large novel with a sequel.
I was once a Realtor. A pretty good one at that. I channeled my experiences and my “hmm..what would happen if…” to create this series.

Tell us a bit about your book.

The Realtors is an epic novel of a couple. Jack and Sara are real, compelling, extraordinarily imperfect and at times aggravating individuals that so far, are charming reviewers and readers alike.  I chronicle their growth, development, faults, failures, triumphs and tragedies alike and like to think these two bring an intensity to a non-traditional romance story that will make you clamor for more.

Is this part of a series?

Floor Time released Jan. 25
Sweat Equity Feb. 25
and the final chapter, Closing Costs will release March 25.

What did you find the hardest part of writing it to be?

Depends on what stage I’m at. While in creative mode I struggle with not becoming obsessed with the manuscript. While in editing I am in constant ego rasslin’ mode. Once past that I’m trying to balance promotion with not being too annoying.

What was your favorite part?

Creative, without a doubt.

Rate your story in terms of steaminess

All three books in the Realtors series are (and according to reviewers I’m not exaggerating) Off The Wall Hot, cold shower inspiring, fan-your-face H-O-T.
2 scenes in particular are worth noting from Floor Time:
The Hallway (Jack and Sara’s first actual “encounter’)
The Open House (you will never attend one with the same perspective ever again.

And from Sweat Equity
At the Stewarts Party…after the “Olympics”
The Swim Lesson

Who is your favorite romance author?

Okay, here is true confessions time. I am not a mainstream romance reader. Many of the names that get tossed around I have to look up to have a frame of reference for.  I am a mainstream fiction reader, always have been.  I have a few “go-to” erotic romance authors like Shayla Black, Lauren Dane,  JR Ward for my vamp fix, and I am really getting attached to a few new ones like Laura Harner, Lee Brazil, Nina Peirce, Laura Kaye and Roni Loren.

What is your favorite romance book or series?

Yeah, so, I’m gonna just say that I don’t have one. I got briefly attached to the Black Dagger Brotherhood but am willing to wait for my library copy of the next one. Most series fiction is paranormal these days and that is just not my cup of tea, generally speaking.
There is a 3 book series by Lauren Dane I really like though.

Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*

Jack Gordon. My guy from the Realtors. And I am gonna let him wine and dine me like only a guy like he can. Period.

Boxers or Briefs?

Boxer briefs.

What is next for you?

I have a ton of projects in editing with Decadent Publishing and Ellora’s Cave.  I’m working on a new novel for EC (or whoever takes it I guess) and a series based on a fictional major league soccer expansion team in Detroit.

What were your first impressions of each other?

Jack:  Well, I know she was totally in lust with me at first sight. (runs a hand through his thick, black hair)
Sara:  Spare me Gordon.  I was mainly struck by how flipping gigantic your ego was.
Jack: Well, “gigantic” for sure but not my ego.
Sara: (rolls eyes and leans in to interviewer) He was totally into me from the get go.
Jack: (leans into interview, making her nervous) I’m into her, yeah. No big secret.

What are your favorite parts about each other?

Jack: Her ass followed closely by this little spot on her neck, right at the spot on her collarbone….(He leans in and licks that spot)
Sara: His tongue followed closely by his right hand index finger.
Jack: (winks and puts arm around her whispering in her ear, making her giggle and blush)

What’s next for you?

Jack: Huh? Oh, sorry. (steps away from Sara, and adjusts his suit coat over his …) Yeah, so I’ve got this new building we just renovated, and am working on filling. I moved my office over there. It’s awesome. And I have my eye on some space over on Ann Arbor’s west side for a restaurant.
Sara: (still blushing) I have a bunch of new transactions to close, which will keep me pretty busy. And you know, when you live on one hundred percent commission it’s pretty much a battle every day to stay on top of things.

The Realtors:  Life in the House Lane
Love is an easy word to use, a hard one to demonstrate, and sometimes impossible to trust.
The Realtors is a sweeping epic, encompassing over ten years in the lives of two people who know how to love with their bodies, how to please and get pleasure, to control and be controlled.  When it comes to the deeper meaning of the one word they both need however, their strong personalities get in the way. While their physical connection sizzles they continue to disappoint one another emotionally.
Jack Gordon has it all--money, success, a string of women—but sustains a deep longing for something more. When he thinks he finds it with Sara Jane Thornton, his world is never the same again.  Sara releases his natural Dom, a side of him he'd thought buried out of frustration and unhappiness. Sara learns a true submissive must trust implicitly, something she cannot associate with him, no matter how many times she tries, and he fails.
With a rich cast of secondary characters, including a young man who presents a near-perfect foil to Jack's intensity, and who falls hard for Sara; The Realtors series is a romantic saga with an emphasis on contemporary life and love, with a healthy dose of white-hot eroticism. Modern, busy, driven characters living lives of purpose and real-time stress, seek the ever-elusive and highly coveted combination --a friend, lover and trusted advisor who will be there for the long haul.

Floor Time
Jack Gordon is Ann Arbor's most delectable bachelor.  At age thirty-five, he's made millions as a top-selling Ann Arbor real estate broker and has the right connections to close a deal by any means necessary. With his rugged good looks and compelling personality, he has a virtual black book most men would kill for and he uses it often, never settling for one woman for very long.
While his D/s past remains buried, exactly where he wants it, an undercurrent of boredom and dissatisfaction runs through his life now.  A disastrous experience years earlier made him swear off the whole scene, but the more Jack suppresses his natural Dom, the more his frustration grows.
Sara Thornton, a rookie in the real estate game, has fast-tracked herself to the top of the Ann Arbor market. Her life reflects a disciplined and focused routine, exactly the way she wants it.  However, as her career takes off, the fulfillment she seeks remains inexplicably out of reach.  The one thing she knows for sure, she will not join the Jack Gordon groupies in her company, no matter how tempting that might seem.

Sweat Equity

Jack Gordon thought he’d finally made it.  He had a wildly successful career, money in the bank and even returned to his life as Dom, putting an end to a string of unfulfilling sexual encounters. Now that he's made the ultimate commitment to Sara Thornton, he believes all is right in their world. However, a series of misunderstandings and a dose of self-fulfilling prophesy bring his perfectly crafted house of cards tumbling down around him, forcing him to confront lingering misgivings about marriage and trust.  Could those be the only two things he can never achieve?
Sara struggles with her intense need for Jack and her desire for less volatility in her busy life, two goals which appear to be mutually exclusive. Although willing to put in the time and emotional effort to make their relationship work, she finds it futile and frustrating, littered with clashes thanks to near-identical personalities and temperaments. Given Sara’s history, easing back into the comfortable status quo becomes easier than fighting a war with the one person who should be her safe haven. But will the easier choice satisfy her the way only Jack can? Is her "war" one that comes from without or within?
Buffeted by circumstance, temptation and distraction, Jack and Sara’s tenuous relationship crumbles, sparking a continuous quest for the ever elusive: trust, love and acceptance. By the time they rebuild a foundation for renewal, fate has other plans. This leaves them both reeling, once again questioning their destiny.

Closing Costs

Love conquers all? Not likely, according to Sara Thornton. She's spent eight years coming to terms with the new parameters of her life while resigning herself to the idea that “happily ever afters” are best left to fairytales.  Sales manager for her successful real estate office and juggling an added element of responsibility she never thought she'd face, Sara continues to struggle with the men in her life.  Love, for her, has only meant hurt, broken trust and anger; all of which she’s completely banished from her life, so she claims.
Jack Gordon has come a long way since his early days of obsession with Sara.  As the general manager of Stewart Realty, his own level of responsibility for the well-being of others has ramped up. He’s even honed his caretaking skills, now that he has someone who loves him unconditionally.
Continuing to invest effort and rebuild their relationship, he and Sara grow close as friends. Despite this, his ultimate question remains unanswered; the one he keeps asking, no matter how many times she says no. Sara isn't prepared for the keen focus of his need--to have her back, once and for all. Her stubborn resistance nearly rips both lives apart

The epic conclusion to The Realtors series, Closing Costs brings Jack and Sara truly full circle. Proving that the heat of lust and obsession; the need for control and to be mastered in many areas of life can lead to love —surprising you when you least expect it – if you will only allow it.

 PG Rated

Sara smiled at the man next to her. He'd taken her world and yanked it into his orbit so hard and fast her head still spun some days. God help her she did love him. She put a hand on his sweat-slicked chest, and draped a leg over his. The smell of sex permeated the bedroom. She propped up on her elbow and touched his check.

"Hmm?" his sleepy voice reminded her how much they both needed more shut eye having passed out rather than actually rested last night. He pulled her close. "I'm sorry," he muttered into her hair. "It's just." She nodded into his shoulder. "Shit week, you know. All this wedding talk is not my thing or something. I don't know. I do know I don't deserve you."

"Yeah, that is true. Look, we still have dinner with my parents tonight. My dad is a know-it-all doctor. I dread having the two of you in the same room, frankly, but we have to do it. They're my family and they want to meet you."

She felt him tense beneath her.

"That's fine. I'll be on my best behavior. But I don't want him paying for any of this," he swept a hand towards the small table where she'd piled up magazines and spreadsheets of wedding planning paraphernalia. "I'm doing it. You're grown, not some little girl needing daddy's money anymore."

She bit her lip. "If he wants to I'm not going to stop him. It's his prerogative. Can't you just go with it?" She sat up, swung her legs to the floor.

Dear God he was so unbelievably stubborn!

He sang the same song, different verse, every time. They'd fight, he'd make up by making love to her. She'd let him. They wouldn't talk about it. Again.

Sighing she stood, stretched her sated and tingling body, her mind back on the massive list of shit to do today. Glancing over her shoulder, she allowed herself a long look at the man who would be her husband. His six-foot five-inch frame firm, legs and arms covered with a light dusting of black hair; torso mostly bare, but for a line of jet-black hair beneath his navel leading down to the part of his body that he had, apparently, shared with so many. Her eyes trailed up, to his firm, square jaw, in need of a shave. Her palm itched to reach out, feel the sandpapery rasp of it, keeping him real.

How completely unreal this still seemed, even now after he'd given her yet another mind-boggling set of back-to-back orgasms. That should've been solid evidence he was there, with her, "hers" even. But he wasn't. That small voice in her head, the "Old Sara," with its nagging and worry, poked her psyche once again. You're too alike. It will never work. Jack's eyes opened, at the sound of his own light snore. His sleepy grin made her smile in spite of her heavy heart.

She was no sap. Her own parent's relationship had made her a cynic to the extreme when it came to men. She knew it. She fully acknowledged her own emotional constipation. Yet, she let the man who currently held her heart in his large, talented hands tug her down onto the bed, into the circle of his arms. His skin, smell, and feel eased her as always. She closed her eyes, just for a few minutes.

Interview with Ann Christine

Hi! Thanks so much for coming today. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My bio is a tad boring, conservative and probably too serious. Hobbies are so abundant, I don't have time for them all, including knitting, needle point, walking, jazzercise, reading, and… I know I'll think of some more. Swimming has been a part of my life since, well, forever. I think for that reason most of my books have a deliciously sinful water scene.
June 2011 I retired from my career as a high school math teacher. Now my days are spent, mostly at my computer, writing and editing. Most days I take time off to exercise and spend some time with one of my hobbies.
I have two granddaughters who are absolutely delightful, full of spunk and many surprises. The oldest is two and of course her favorite word is "No." or "No way." Funny, sometimes even when she wants something she says, no.

Tell us a bit about your book.

The setting of Safari Moon is the Alaskan wilderness although the story begins in Bend, Oregon. Our hero, Solo (Steven Oliver Lawrence O'Neil) is a wealthy adventurist. He lives on the edge and loves taking risks. Until he is blindsided by his grandfather's conniving manipulation to set him on course to the altar, he is carefree and worry free. He loves willing, eager and able women but confronted with a bevy of women who fit that description, he runs. But it seems even the Alaskan wilderness isn't far enough away.

Is this part of a series?

Safari Moon was originally meant to be the first book in a three books series. Don't know if I will finish the last two. These books are a bit down on my to do list.

What did you find the hardest part of writing it to be?

The heroine, Nyssa, is engaged at the beginning of the book. The most difficult part was justifying her role in Solo's deception. I don't really want to say more…

What was your favorite part?

I love the wolves and the photography. I've always wanted to shoot wildlife and have always been a bit jealous of those who could fly off at a moment's notice to parts unknown. Solo has the ability to pick and choose his photo assignments and seems to always choose exotic local.

Rate your story in terms of steaminess

Safari Moon should definitely use animals for its rating system.
Dragon: Hottest, roaring, fire breathing hot. Over the top, a 5 erotica
Lion: Darn hot, absolutely steamy love scenes. Of course a 4 rating
Wolf: Is it a wolf in sheep's clothing? Absolutely, leaves the reader breathless and panting. Could be a 3 rating or maybe even 3.5 rating.
Cat: Pretty tame. Many of the scenes are behind closed doors. For someone who loves a sweet romance and the power of suggestion.
Chameleon: Okay, might have a love scene, but probably not. Reader knows there is romance. Love scenes left entirely to the imagination.
So what is Safari Moon? I'd like to use the wolf because that was the animal Solo was shooting pictures of but it is really pretty steamy. Lion rating.

Who is your favorite romance author?

I have a list of favorites, can never nail it down to one. I love Stella Cameron's romances, Heather Graham, Johanna Lindsey and I do like Jo Goodman.

What is your favorite romance book or series?

Again a very hard one. All of the ladies above have romance series. I've read most of them more than 5 times. And if I had the time I'd start one right now. Sigh…unfortunately my to do list is way too long.

Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*

I have to say Hawke from Highland Honor. He has a gorgeous ship named the Aphrodite. I would go on board with him and after setting sail to a warm port in the Caribbean we would have a very romantic dinner and a night fillied with passionate love making. Once in the warm waters, say somewhere near Santorini we would go for a swim in the moonlight and let the warm water wash over our naked bodies. There is absolutely nothing steamier than making love in the water.

Boxers or Briefs?

Well, I would have to say briefs in the form of a speedo. Have you ever really looked at the Olympic swimmers in there wonderful speedos? Of course Solo has an athletic body and what does he wear? Hmm… I would have to say speedo-like briefs.

What is next for you?

I belong to a writing group called Rogues Angels. We are embarking on a May Day Anthology to be published in 2013 on May Day. It will be lots of fun to be able to incorporate pagan rituals with the fae folk.

What were your first impressions of each other?

Solo—Drop dead gorgeous and intelligent too. He was never quite sure how to wrap his head around both characteristics.
Nyssa—I could spend a lifetime with him and never grow tired of looking at him. Can't believe how he so nonchalantly takes everything in stride.

What are your favorite parts about each other?

Solo—Her faithfulness. He knows he can always count on Nyssa to help him out of tight situations.
Nyssa—How carefree Solo is. She would love to be able to put her responsibilities to the back of her mind and enjoy an adventure without feeling guilty.

What’s next for you?

Besides the anthology mentioned above I will be publishing Rebel Heart which will be my first erotica.  It is set in the future and I had a lot of fun creating this world. It will be published June of this year.

Born in Medford, Oregon, novelist Christine Young has lived in Oregon all of her life. After graduating from Oregon State University with a BS in science, she spent another year at Southern Oregon State University working on her teaching certificate, and a few years later received her Master's degree in secondary education and counseling. Now the long, hot days of summer provide the perfect setting for creating romance. She sold her first book, Dakota's Bride, the summer of 1998 and her second book, My Angel to Kensington. Her teaching and writing careers have intertwined with raising three children.  Christine's newest venture is the creation of Rogue Phoenix Press. Christine is the founder, editor and co-owner with her husband. They live in Salem, Oregon.

Rogues Angels blog:

Solo St. John, a wildlife photographer, is preparing for a trip to Alaska.  Suddenly, Solo finds women of all sorts invading his privacy, his home and his office, all cooing nonsense words and blatantly throwing themselves at him.  Solo doesn't know why, and he has no idea how to rid himself of the persistent women.  He finally decides to beg a favor of his best buddy Nyssa Harrington.
In love with Solo for the past ten years and knowing he doesn't return her feelings Nyssa doesn't want to talk to Solo.  She knows if she accepts his phone call, she will not be able to resist the temptation to hope again.

Safari Moon
Excerpt 1

Wanted: A professional wildlife photographer to take pictures in the Alaskan wilderness. Experience first hand a real safari moon. Call(555)381-1252 or send resumes to 2286 Main, Suite 2D Bend, Oregon.

Solo St. John was in the middle of an erotic dream about his buddy, Nyssa Harrington, when the click of his front door shutting brought him to instant alert mode.

Solo looked up, caught a flashing glimpse of a good deal of naked flesh; long legs, perfectly rounded derriere, and a waist he could span with his hands. The intruder's long blond hair curled around her shoulders an inch above the ties of her bikini top.

Then he saw the skunk. He blinked twice.

This woman and the skunk were not the subject of his brief and very strange dream, a fantasy that made his mind speed along at sixty in a residential zone. This was someone he had never seen before and he resented the intrusion.

"Hello," she cooed seductively from his living room. "Will you come out and play?"

The skunk stuck a black and white head around the open door to his bedroom. A second later the animal turned and lifted his tail before disappearing into the living room.

Solo was out of bed and pulling on his jeans before the count of five. Yet in that short time, the lady in question, along with the skunk that was now exploring his fireplace hearth, had taken over his living room.

The lithe, supple blond sported an expensive camera, and all the while the lady in question babbled nonsense words.

"I'm willing, able, and eager." She posed for him, a pose meant to entice.

Manic Monday Updates

Hi All!

Its Manic Monday! Meaning its update time! So what have I been doing? It seems like I've been doing to much LOL.

If you've seen me around you know I'm gearing up for the release of Trinity Bound, book 3 of the Redwood Pack series. It comes out Friday and I'm freaking out LOL.

It is so weird to love your own book and then have others read it. But that's my job, and honestly, I can't wait for you guys to get to know Reed, Josh, and Hannah.

Reed is an artist and a werewolf. Hannah is a witch and can kick butt. And Josh is an ex-military human who is put in the middle.

Trinity bound is a m/m/f and is very very spicy!

Hi! Thanks for coming!!! Below is a snippet from my upcoming Trinity Bound! Yep! It's coming out on Friday!!! Whoot!!!

Hannah put her hand on his arm, a jolt of electricity flashing between the two. She gasped, and he held back the urge to do so. She gave him a smile, and he desperately wanted to brush the curls from her face, soothing the bruises that couldn’t hide her radiant beauty. Reed crouched behind her, still protective. He too was beautiful; with his chiseled cheekbones pronounced against the shadowed, healing bruises.
Dear God.

Thanks for coming and commenting!

Fresh Friday Reads

Hi All!

How has your week been? What have you read? I've been beyond busy for some reason LOL. So I've read only my WIP Dust of My Wings and a few re-reads.

What have you read this week? Let me know because I LOVE reading new work!

I did re-read a couple of Lorelei James's Rough Riders books. Have you tried those out? Sexy cowboys? Hell to the yeah. LOL

Long Hard Ride - Lorelei James.

This is the first book of the Rough Riders series and the first scene is a bar dance. I mean really? How AWESOME is that. Cam's story, Shoulda Been a Cowboy, is my favorite. But I always do have a thing for those tortured heroes.

I truly recommend  these to EVERYONE.

LONG HARD RIDE...One lucky woman…three sexy cowboys…she’s in for the ride of her life!...

Channing Kinkaid itches for a change; a wild western adventure with an untamed man. Determined to shed her inhibitions and embrace the steamier, seamier side of life, she sets her sights on hooking up with a real chaps-and-spurs-wearing cowboy.

Enter Colby McKay—bull rider, saddle bronc buster and calf roper. From the moment he sets lust-filled eyes on the sweet and fiery Channing, he knows he’s found the woman who’s up to the challenge of cutting loose. What rough and rowdy cowboy could resist a no-holds-barred sexual romp with a sassy young thing starring as his personal buckle bunny?

Intrigued by Channing’s bold proposition of horsing around on the road, Colby impulsively sweetens the deal; sexual escapades not only in his bed, but in the bedrolls of his rodeo traveling partners, Trevor and Edgard.

Although Channing’s secretly longed to be the sole focus of more than one man’s passions, Colby’s demand for complete submission behind closed doors will test her willful nature.

Can Channing give up total control? Especially when not all is as it seems with the sexy trio? Or will the cowboys have to break out the bullropes and piggin' string to break in this headstrong filly?

Warning: This title contains the following: lots of explicit sex, going strong long after the cows come home, graphic language that’d make your mama blush, light bondage with bullropes, ménage a trois, and yee-haw! hot nekkid cowboy man-love.

Wreck of the Nebula Dream in an Interview

Please welcome my friend, the lovely Veronica Scott!

Hi! Thanks so much for coming today. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I grew up in upstate New York in a house with a library full of books, and when I ran out of things to read, I inevitably started writing my own stories. I married my high school sweetheart very young, but was then widowed. I’ve got two grown daughters, a livewire grandson and cats.
Always more stories to tell, new adventures to experience—my personal motto is, “Never boring.”

Tell us a bit about your book.

Wreck of the Nebula Dream is a Science Fiction Adventure with romantic elements. It’s a reimagining of the sinking of the Titanic, set in the far future, out among the stars. Here’s the story in a nutshell:
Traveling unexpectedly aboard the luxury liner Nebula Dream on its maiden voyage across the galaxy, Sectors Special Forces Captain Nick Jameson is ready for ten relaxing days, and hoping to forget his last disastrous mission behind enemy lines. He figures he’ll gamble at the casino, take in the shows, maybe even have a shipboard fling with Mara Lyrae, the beautiful but reserved businesswoman he meets.
All his plans vaporize when the ship suffers a wreck of Titanic proportions. Captain and crew abandon ship, leaving the 8000 passengers stranded without enough lifeboats and drifting unarmed in enemy territory. Aided by Mara, Nick must find a way off the doomed ship for himself and several other innocent people before deadly enemy forces reach them or the ship’s malfunctioning engines finish ticking down to self destruction.
But can Nick conquer the demons from his past that tell him he’ll fail these innocent people just as he failed to save his Special Forces team? Will he outpace his own doubts to win this vital race against time?

Is this part of a series?

Not really, although I have written three other novels (as yet unpublished) set in this same SF universe.

What did you find the hardest part of writing it to be?

I started out thinking I was going to be sticking pretty close to the factual events of Titanic, reinterpreted for a luxury spaceliner, but then my characters got into the action, as characters will do, and the plot started taking other twists and turns! I put in respectful nods to Titanic wherever appropriate – there aren’t enough life boats on the Nebula Dream, for one thing.

What was your favorite part?

I enjoyed weaving the romance between Nick and Mara in and around the fast paced events of the wreck itself and the aftermath. I relish books and movies with a strong hero and heroine who must get the job done, solve the problem, whatever the challenge may be, while also falling in love.

Rate your story in terms of steaminess

There isn’t much time for hot encounters while racing around trying to save yourself and others from a spacewreck. Nick and Mara are attracted to each other from the very first scene but they only manage a few stolen moments of romance in the novel. So there’s definite warmth but no heat LOL! Their relationship develops and deepens as they work together against time to solve the problems.

Who is your favorite romance author?

If I must pick one, I’ll go with Nalini Singh, for her Psy Wars and her GuildHunter series. I can lose myself in either world for a long time!

What is your favorite romance book or series?

I will set aside anything, any time, to read a new Alpha & Omega novel by Patricia Briggs. I love Charles and Anna! Although I am also very fond of Elizabeth Jennings Pursuit. My copy of that is dog eared.

Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*

Can I ask Ms. Singh to write me one of her angels just for me? A cross between Raphael and Noel, with a bit of Illium. And he’d take me flying, obviously, show me things I’d never seen from that vantage point. We’d have a picnic in some deserted but beautiful spot that only a winged person could reach and then while away the afternoon exploring the differences between angel and human. Hmm, somehow I’d have to figure out the becoming immortal thing though, so I wouldn’t lose him! Well, maybe I should think about a shifter then, your shifters are very hot……can I get back to you on this? LOL!

Boxers or Briefs?

What is next for you?

I’m doing major revisions on my next paranormal romance set in Ancient Egypt, Warrior of the Nile.

What were your first impressions of each other?

Mara: I noticed Nick right away, while we were waiting at the spaceport. He’s confident but not cocky – the kind of person you just know you can depend on, especially in a crisis. Wow, was I right about that! (She smiles at Nick.) And of course he’s very handsome.
Nick (Fidgets a little): Yeah, Mara caught my eye – I’m a leg man and she’s got gorgeous legs. But she was in her all business mode that day, working on contracts or something, very intense, shutting out the world.  I kept sneaking glances at her on the shuttle, wishing there was a seat next to her so I could at least try making conversation.

What are your favorite parts about each other?

Mara: He’s no nonsense. He steps right up and takes action when the occasion calls for it. (Smiles at Nick.) But there’s a lot more to him than just being a Special Forces tough guy. Nick’s a terrific person, very caring, good with kids….
Nick: Ok, you’re ruining my reputation as a stone cold operator. (Laughs.) Talk about no nonsense – that’s Mara. She keeps her head in an emergency, which I admire. She saved us a few times back on the Nebula Dream. A man couldn’t ask for a better partner, on all levels.

What’s next for you?

Nick: Well I know Veronica doesn’t want us to provide spoilers, so I’ll just say after all we’ve been through, Mara and I plan to take some time together, away from it all.
Mara: And definitely not on another cruise ship, not on sea or in space!
