OMG! I'm sooooo excited to have the lovely Annie Nicholas here today!!!
Hi! Thanks so much for coming today.
Thanks for hosting me!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a French Canadian immigrant who has invaded Vermont. (One day they may recover. LOL) For as long as I could remember I have loved monsters. I was the kid who routed for King Kong, cheered for Godzilla, and wept for Dracula (He should have gotten Mina). A few years ago, I decided to introduce the world to all the characters living in my head and I began writing.
Tell us a bit about your book.
Omegas in Love is the truest form of true love that I have ever written. This story is about the struggle of two weaker shifters of a pack who are already in love. (The start of their relationship is seen in the prior books.) The abuse they’ve suffered had left scars on both their souls but together they are stronger until Katrina, the heroine, is stolen away from the hero, Tyler, by her old abusive alpha. This is the story of how two shifters, with little resources, fight to come back to each other.
Is this part of a series?
Yes, this is the fourth book in The Vanguards series. The soul of these stories is how the weaker members of the pack, the pansies of the paranormal, find strength and love. Sometimes a woman just needs to root for the underdog.
What did you find the hardest part of writing it to be?
Most romances start with two strangers falling in love. This one is about a couple already in a relationship, but in real life we all know that falling in love is the easy part. It’s staying in love and learning to forgive that is the hardest.
What was your favorite part?
Imagine your loved one in the hands of a tyrant. There is a moment where Tyler can’t stop thinking about what is happening to Katrina while he helplessly searches for her. His anger is so raw and grief so deep he could drown in it. The emotions shake his control over his inner beast and he’s close to shifting in a hospital.
I want to weep each time I read this part.
Rate your story in terms of steaminess
On a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 equals having fantasies about your grandparents and 10 equals involving a jar of Nutella, silk rope, and two of your favorite hunks in real life.
I’d rate the heat level of this book as 7. Hot shifter sex without the use of toys or other partners.
Who is your favorite romance author?
This is a hard choice. I would say, at this very moment, it is Nalini Singh. But I enjoy a lot of authors.
What is your favorite romance book or series?
Nalini’s Archangel series has me hooked.
Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*
You forgot to add “and you’re not married and he’ll never read this post.” LOL
This should be a hard question to answer but it’s not.
I’d pick Dimitri. The vampire hero from Archangel’s Blade and probably the reason for my addiction to this series. I’m not sure what a thousand year old vampire would like to do but I’m sure it would involve ropes, whips, and me begging…a lot.
Boxers or Briefs?
Commando. Nothing sexier than a man stripping off his jeans sans underwear.
What is next for you?
I will continue The Vanguard series. The next installment, The Sigma, will be releasing in August 2012.
And I have created a new exciting series for Carina Press, the first installment of Confessions of a Succubus will be releasing in the Fall 2012. I have also joined a group of authors to create a new series called Gatekeepers. My story, Koishi, will be released March 2013.
What were your first impressions of each other?
Tyler: “I’d never met another shifter more abused than me and still hold on to her courage. She ran from her home and crossed an ocean to find freedom. How could I not fall in love with her? I never had a chance.”
Katrina: “At first, I feared all the males but Tyler was so awkward and funny. He always tried to make me happy. I don’t think I ever laughed until I met him. It is through him that I discovered how to live.”
What are your favorite parts about each other?
Tyler: “Her hair.”
Katrina: “That’s it? My hair?”
Tyler: “Your boobs.”
Katrina: *laughs* “Well, at least, you like more than one thing about me. I like his hair too.”
What’s next for you?
Katrina: “Tyler? Did he faint again?”
Annie Nicholas hibernates in the rural, green mountains of Vermont, where she dreams of different worlds, heroes, and heroines. When spring arrives the stories pour from her, in hopes to share them with the masses one day.
Mother, daughter, wife are some of the hats she happily wears while trudging after her cubs through the hills and dales. The four seasons an inspiration and muse.

Some things are best to forget. But what if the past won't be forgotten?
Born in China of a pure shifter bloodline, Katrina was raised with only one purpose--to breed. Abused by her alpha, she runs away to America as soon as she can. With a new pack and her true mate, she thinks the nightmare is behind her, but when she is abducted on the streets of Chinatown, Katrina must face her past and fight for her freedom.
It took Tyler a year to earn Katrina's love, another to build her confidence and pride, and only a moment to lose her. Broken-hearted, Tyler won't give up his search for Katrina. But he never trained as a warrior like the other shifters. What chance does a real estate agent have in the fight for his mate?
WARNING: Explicit shifter sex, heartbroken torment, and an unstoppable shifter in love.
An antique red archway covered the entrance to the tourist trap to keep evil spirits away and good luck in. Sticking his hand in his jacket pocket, he rubbed the small, velvet jewelry box he’d placed there earlier today. He could use all the luck he could get—just because Katrina was his mate, didn’t mean she’d agree to get married.
Raised in an all-wolf-shifter community in rural
, she didn’t think like American shifters. Like him. He took a deep, shaky breath. Marriage was a foreign ritual to her. Mongolia
He’d chosen this location not just for his superstitions, but for its significance. Katrina worked in the area, a place where the old Asian world met the new, as an interpreter for some of the local companies.
She waited under the arch, facing him, her delicate eyebrows furrowed. An Asian man he didn’t recognize spoke with her.
Facing the stranger’s back,
could only see his short black hair and long fall trench coat. Tyler
A sharp stab of jealousy drove him to quicken his pace. He couldn’t help it. As a shifter, possession was nine-tenths of the law, and Katrina belonged to him.
Passing half a dozen souvenir shops offering cheap trinkets,
trotted along Tyler Wentworth Avenue. Katrina’s raised voice reached his ears, but he couldn’t understand Mandarin. He growled low in his chest. His mate didn’t yell often.
Three other men broke from the crowd and surrounded the arguing couple.
