Welcome to the first stop on the St. Patrick's Day Blog Hop!! Yes, I know its the day before St. Patrick's Day, but as I will be celebrating tomorrow, I made the hop the day before LOL.
Below this post is exactly how you can win some prizes...so read on.
So what does it mean to be a person who celebrates the holiday? Well, for some, they drink. And drink often. For others, they wear green so they don't get pinched. For others...well...there are so many ways.
For me? Well, I'm 50% Irish. So I usually call my gramps and have him tell a tale. That's what he does. Then I wear a splash of green. Mostly because I work at a school and hate to be pinched. Then I make corned beef and cabbage - because its AWESOME. Sometimes I go out and have a green beer. But really, it just depends. I love the holiday and how everyone comes out of the wood work and is now "Irish" LOL.
What do you do for St. Patrick's Day? Are you "Irish" or Irish?
As part of the blog hop, all you need to do is comment on this post with your email address and be signed up for my newsletter http://www.carrieannryan.com/contact-me/192-2/. When you do that you'll be entered to win my prize. An autographed swag pack AND a necklace.
AND you'll be entered to win 1 of 2 GRAND PRIZES
1) Winner's Choice of a KINDLE FIRE or NOOK TABLET
2) Winner's Choice of a $90 Gift Card from Amazon or B&N
So leave a comment with your email address and sign up for the newsletter http://www.carrieannryan.com/contact-me/192-2/ and you enter to win on mine. THEN go to the other 120 authors and do the same on theirs. EACH blog has a giveaway and is part of the grand prize. You can enter on each post and have your name in the pot 120 times to win the grand prize.
Contest ends at 11:59 PM EST.
And since you are here, here's a snipped from my newest release, A Taste for a Mate.
Jasper Jamenson fought himself as he walked into the bakery that morning. This would be the seventh week in a row in which he came here every day but Sunday. And that was only because the damn store was closed. As good as the cinnamon rolls were, and they were little tastes of heaven, it was the woman behind the counter that brought him there every morning.
Following a particularly bad night in the forest on a hunt Jasper was pissed and hungry. Another wolf tried to play a dominant game, forcing Jasper to hurt him. The stench of other’s defeat remained on him, only angering Jasper just that much more. The scent of the morning’s freshly baked goods pulled him through the quaint and welcoming door while the slender goddess who served him brought thoughts of a different form of servicing to mind.
Slightly above average in height, he would guess about five foot seven; she was the perfect height to settle against his body. For someone who owned and operated a bakery she was as skinny as a rail. However, if he looked close enough he could see the telltale signs curves. He knew that just a little bit of his help and pampering she would gain well-needed cushion but no matter what, she would look amazing underneath him. Long, light brown hair was constantly in a bun on the top of her head. His fingers ached to pull out the pins and watch it tumble down her back. Hazel eyes sought him and begged for his protection. Damn, he was willing.
A Taste for a Mate Blurb
Jasper Jamenson’s only responsibility to being the Beta of the Redwood Pack, second son of the Alpha, is to protect the Pack from themselves and the human world. After a century of selfless service, his brother’s new found mating forced him into taking a good look into his life. He isn’t sure he wants a mate, but fate may have other ideas.
Willow Delton is a skinny, bakery owner – the type most woman love to hate. Being without family, she finds herself alone to the Greek god with green eyes who saunters into her bakery every morning. Her desire to follow him, to be with him, overrides every rational sense she possessed.
Jasper and Willow are drawn together, despite every nuisance that works against them. But evil beyond even Jasper’s supernatural compensation will make war against him, by going after the only thing in his eternal life he desires – Willow. Is Willow’s heart enough to overcome Jasper’s soul to save her life? A fight he cannot win, but to save her life – he must.

I have a pinch of Irish in me, but I am not sure how much. My grandfather was always really proud of his bit of Irish though, collecting all kinds of Kiss Me I'm Irish merchandise. Pretty much I just celebrate by wearing green and maybe decorating a little with shamrocks and such.

I don't really understand how the whole racial percentages go. I am Irish. But am I less Irish because I wasn't born there?
ReplyDeleteThe extent of my celebration of St. Pat's day is the wearing of green so that I don't get the crap pinched out of me. Especially when I used to be in school. If I'd forgotten to wear green I'd go get some grass to wear.
Thanks!!

I'm not Irish, but I do wear green, sing songs like "O Danny Boy," look for rainbows that might have gold, look for leprechauns who keeps moving my items to strange places and sometimes do an Irish jig with tons of wiggly miniature sized humans (aka...I'm an elementary school music teacher!) :)
ReplyDeleteLeiaRaven@yahoo.com
I'm "Irish" although I could probably find some Irish in my ancestry - just way, way back, lol. The extent of my celebration is wearing green to avoid being pinched :D

But now that I'm older and mellower, and married lol, I've come to realize it's all about being with family and enjoying life. Of course there is beer (Smithwicks or Guiness yum), corned beed, shepard's pie, soda bread, Colcannon. etc.... yum Can't wait.

Happy St. Patty's Day! I am not Irish and since I have had my kids, I don't really go out. I do love the friendliness though. When I used to go out, everyone was always so nice and happy. I used to live in an "Irish" city where they celebrate ALL day. Literally from like 6am (when the bars open) until 2 am the next day. They have a citywide parade and all. People get hotel rooms and randomly invite strangers for a drink or just offer them to passersby. It is awesome! Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletetrb0917 at gmail dot com
Sadly, the only celebration I will be doing tomorrow will be work, but I will be wearing my green scrubs and cooking corned beef and cabbage!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not Irish, but I am dying to go to Ireland and am planning a trip with my best friend in the near future! I'm so excited!!!

Great prizes! I wish I were at least a little bit Irish and so far nope we're not.
ReplyDeleteBy so far I mean that I hope to find a way I can study my family tree someday and actually find out if by some hint of family luck that we might be Irish, nothing so far though.
My grandpa used to say that we're just enough Irish to get drunk on St. Patrick's Day, then again I guess that's just about enough reason for anyone.
We never do anything heavy duty for St. Patty's Day we might find a decoration or two for the house and mom usually makes a corn beef for this day.
She and I will sometimes go downtown for some Irish coffee or to McDonald's for a shamrock shake.
That's about as celebratory as we get, still the lack of Irish in our family doesn't stop us from celebrating a holiday!
Oh and green's my favorite color anyway but I least try and wear a little green on St. Patrick's Day!
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Yes I am Irish. Drinking, sometimes short temper and all. Hey what can I say, what is why I don't have any kids. With both my side and my husbands being predominantly Irish, there is no way I will have those little "feckers" running a muck in my house! LoL Booksniffersanonymous at GMAIL dot COM

I've never done anything special for St. Patrick's Day except to try to remember to wear green. I do have some Irish blood in me though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest/giveaway!

Not so much Irish. I don't do much. But I do try to wear green. Or I wear my t-shirt that says "Don't pinch me, I'm wearing green underwear". I do love the looks on people's faces when they finish reading it!
ReplyDeleteI'm also never one to turn down corned beef!
Thanks for the contest and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I am a mutt...1/3 Irish, 1/3 Cherokee, and 1/3 Scotts. I was born on the 7th day--weighed 7 lbs and 7 oz, in room number 7.
ReplyDeleteI'm only a wee bit Irish so I usually wear green and that's the extent of it. Yay Blog Hop!
