We all want to love a Heartbreaker. Maybe its because of his chiseled good looks, his bad boy attitude, or his mysterious nature!Some Heartbreakers are just that, they know what they got and they know how to use it to get what they want. Then there are those Heartbreakers that don't even realize that they are doing it. The best part about a Heartbreaker is that there is always a woman that turns their world upside down until they relize that it is love. I have read many Romance Novels over the years and have run into many memorable Heartbreakers and my favorites are usually the ones that don't even know they are Heartbreakers! Some of my personal favorites are :

Ian MacPhie (Vampire) from All I Want Fot Christmas Is A Vampire. Ian is a heartbreaking Highland Vampire that was frozen in his immortality when he was 15 years old. With the help of fellow vampire friend and scientist he is given a drug that helps him age to 28 years old so he can look like the man he feels like and not a man trapped in a teenagers body. Ian has no confidence in finding a mate.
Lothaire Daciano (Vampire) from Lothaire. Lothaire is definately a Heartbreaker and his cocky attitude proves it 100%! He thinks he is Gods gift to women! Its the sucker punch from a woman he doesn't realize is his equal that brings him down a notch.
Marius Parker from His Contrary Bride. Marius is every part the gentleman but he doesn't think he can also play the rogue.
Fury North (Human with Canine DNA)from the book Fury, and Valiant North (Human with Feline DNA)from the book Valiant. Fury and Valiant are strong New Species and gorgeous to boot, but because they are damaged and different they don't think they can hold onto the women they love.
Sigimor Cameron from Highland Conqueror. Sigimor is every bit the Highland Laird and warrior but can he hold onto the beautiful English lady?
Joshua Striker (Werewolf) from Alexandra's Legacy. Joshua is a scarred and battle hard enforcer for his pack and he thinks he doesn't have what it takes to make a certain woman melt.

My first encounter with a heartbreaker came at the age of 15, after transferring to a new school. He flirted outrageously with me and asked me to "go" with him, and for one day, I did. Then I heard gossip that he was a love-em-leave-em guy and I broke up. I didn't want to be dumped.

I wanted him back, but his pride wouldn't allow it. For the rest of the school year he treated me with respect and friendship, but never once did he try to kiss me or win me back. Then, school ended the day before my 16th birthday and he showed up at my house with a dozen roses. Unfortunately, I was out with friends and missed the opportunity AGAIN!
That summer we moved and I didn't see him again until several years later. By then, he wasn't under my skin. Still, it was a sweet reunion and I think of him fondly.

Your question is too deep. A heart breaker is so many things. All I know is that the best ones always are the ones who end up in the HEA's at the end. In the romance book world, I think a heartbreak is someone who's sexy as hell and possibly knows it. He can have any woman he wants and also knows it. But with that being the case, he doesn't really know how to change the way he is, but wants that ome person. So many of these responses have listed looks, when reality its a lot about trust and feelings. A real heartbreaker doesn't need looks, but charm or personality to sneak in under/past our defenses. Someone who uses others without regard to their feelings or needs; a selfish person using and discarding others.
ReplyDeleteAnd one thing not mentioned- it doesn't have to be a significant other...a heartbreaker can be a close/best friend or family member. I have had more 'heartbreak' over best-friends than guys I dated. Only really been in love a couple of times, but I've had "best friends" stab me in the back more often over the years!

I may not have much experience in the whole love department, but I have had my heart broken. Being a heartbreaker can be from various actions that you do. I am a newbie when it comes to reading romance books but what I have learned it is not bad to have a chiseled body or an amazing personality. To me a Heart Breaker is a man with a handsome face, Gorgeous body & hair & he know's it. Show's it in each step he takes with confidence. He has an air about him that when he looks at you, you get lost in those eyes, dreaming of being wrapped around his body. However in all this beauty is arrogance. Just wondering, where on the hop does is say who won the big prizes? I can't find any info. I know it wasn't me, because I got no email, but I'm curious.
